Implementing access control at your workplace

If your workplace has recently fallen victim to theft or you're looking for ways to improve security around your offices, then getting set up with an access control system may help you with business security.
Leaving entry to your workplace open to anyone passing by could pose a serious security risk to not only your equipment and technology, but also to your staff working inside.
The use of access control can help to limit who is granted entry into particular areas, with visitors able to get through to places such as reception, but needing to have an access key to go any further into the workplace.
There are a number of access control systems to choose from, with access cards, remote's, key fobs and finger scanners available.
The Bosch Fingerprint Reader is one security solution that you can implement in your workplace, with this simple device able to admit your employees at just the swipe of a finger.
Other features include a built-in sounder providing alarm warning, a built-in tamper switch, adjustable volume control, anti-replay and anti-substitution protection.
If you want an all-encompassing access control and alarm system, opt for the Bosch Solution 144.
This security system was released by Bosch in October 2012, has the ability to cater for up to 256 users and is powerful enough to handle 144 zones (detection devices).
This solution also offers integrated access control for up to 16 access doors or proximity readers, providing a number of different user interfaces including internal or weatherproof external proximity readers, biometric fingerprint readers and keypads with built-in proximity readers.
You can further make sure that your access control system is effective by recording all the access cards or building keys issued, and also stressing that users don't lend it to outsiders.
Installing other security solutions such as wireless security cameras and sensor lights may also help to protect your staff and workplace.

Do Wireless Alarms Need Wi-Fi?

Wireless alarm systems will not require Wi-Fi , at least not to communicate with its wireless components. The only time a wireless alarm would need Wi-Fi  is if it reports back to an app on a customer’s smartphone, to alert them of an intrusion or to allow them to arm and disarm the system remotely. For the system to properly talk with its wireless components , it would require a receiver. In some instances this receiver can be built into the main control panel, but more often than not it is a separate device that must be wired in.  This receiver uses RF frequencies to communicate with each wireless device, which will have a wireless transmitter inside.  These wireless devices have the same function as their hard wired options, for example a wireless detector is able to detect movement the same way a wired detector will.  The difference is how it transmits this signal back to the panel.  The hard wired detector creates an open circuit when it detects movement, tripping the alarm ins
